Research Interests
1. Theory of interactions between nonlinear phenomena and electromagnetic
signals up to optical frequencies, involving conventional and quantum-mechanical
semiconductors; applications to frequency division and multiplication,
mixing, radiometry, and millimetre wave WLAN networks. Nonlinear modelling
of heterostructure, resonant-tunneling, and quantum-barrier devices. Algebraic
and numerical approaches to analyzing the nonlinear interactions.
2. Electro-mechanical biomedical devices. The current project
concerns a novel design for an external knee orthosis that will enable
patients suffering from neurolocomotion or muscle-weakness problems to
walk with a nearly-normal gait. This work is being done in cooperation
with The Rehabilation Centre, part of the Royal Ottawa Health Care group.
