Latches and Flip Flops Rev C 2009;  

• Latches take the bit you are feeding them, and remember it after it is changed

 • Flip-flops store the bit you are feeding them at the time you give them a store signal. The store signal is usually a rising clock edge.
Circuits with flip-flops, controlled by a clock, are called synchronous circuits. Most of the rest of the course is about them.
