Summer NSERC 2008

RE: NSERC Undergraduate Student Research Award Program Summer of 2008

Please note that a poster will be provided (in the very near future) for distribution to second, third and forth year undergraduate students.

QUOTA calculation:

* NSERC has calculated quotas according to a formula that takes into account the average number of NSERC Postgraduate scholarships and Canada Graduate Scholarships offered to students at the university over the past three competitions plus the average number of NSERC grantees at the institution over the past three years.

* Our quota for this year is 80 positions.

VALUE of the award:

* NSERC's portion--$4,500 ($56.25/day) for a 16 consecutive week period

* Supervisors must supplement this amount with a minimum of $281.50 per month (25% of the award). Last year the average supplement was $476 per month.

ELIGIBILITY:

Students must have completed at least two terms of their program at the time they apply and be registered full-time in a Bachelor's degree program in the natural sciences or engineering fields; they must also be Canadian citizens or permanent resident of Canada,

Supervisors must hold an active NSERC grant at the time the student applies.

HOW to apply:

Students who wish to work at Carleton University must apply through the electronic application form available only at Carleton. The URL is http://www.carleton.ca/cu/research/curo (form 200 Part I to be filled in by the student and the supervisor will complete form 202 Part II).

DEADLINE: The deadline for students to apply is Monday, January 21, 2008.

OVERALL GPA's:

The overall GPA's will be calculated in January with a final calculation on January 22, 2008.

AWARD notification:
