To Use Remote Desktop Connection

Remote Desktop Connection is a program used to connect graphical to a Windows machine. You can read more about it here 'http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remote_Desktop_Protocol'.

To use Windows

Windows XP

To launch 'Remote Desktop Connection'.
Click Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Remote Desktop Connection.

In older verison of Windows XP Remote Desktop Connections is under Start -> All Programs -> Accessories -> Communations.
Finish connecting here.

Windows Vista/7

Click Start Button and type in 'remote desktop connection'. Click on 'Remote Desktop Connections' below 'Programs'.

To Connect

To connect type in server name that you are connecting to and click Connect.

To use a Unix Client

All Unix clients use the program 'rdesktop'.

To run on Sun Solaris

/opt/csw/bin/rdesktop

To run on Linux

Assuming it installed on your Linux the command is the just 'rdesktop'.

Example connections

Basic connection
rdesktop server-name
Full screen and 16bit colour connection
rdesktop -f -a 16 server-name
